Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg position requiring surgical nursing experience and NH or compact RN licensure.
Details
- 32-bed inpatient surgical unit caring for post-surgical patients
- Patient population includes vascular, thoracic, colorectal and general surgery cases
- Common diagnoses include ARDS, esophagectomies, whipples, and sepsis
- LNA to patient ratio is 1:7-11 (unit shares with PCU)
- RN to patient ratio is 4:1 on days and 5:1 on nights
- 12-hour PM-AM shifts from 19:00-07:00
- Weekly hours of 36 or 48
- On-call responsibilities required
- Floating required
Requirements
- Active RN license (NH or compact) required
- Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience within the last 2 years
- Surgical nursing experience required
- Experience caring for patients after vascular, thoracic, colorectal, and general surgery
- Chest tube management experience
- Experience with drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone
- Experience with lines, tubes, and drains for post-surgical patients
- Trach and laryngectomy care experience
- Telemetry experience
- Complex wound care experience
- Central line care, maintenance, and blood draw experience
- BLS certification required

- Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
