Description
American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit role requiring 2+ years of progressive or critical care nursing experience and ACLS certification.
Details
- Work in a newly established 16-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) within the Heart and Vascular Center
- Care for complex cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients, including those transitioning from critical care or recovering from cardiovascular procedures
- 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
- 12-hour PM-AM shifts (19:00-07:00)
- 36 weekly hours with days or day/night rotation options available
Requirements
- Active RN license (NH or Compact)
- ACLS certification required
- 2 years of progressive care or critical care nursing experience required
- Cardiology and cardiac surgery specialty experience required
- Experience with continuous invasive pressure monitoring (arterial line, CVP monitoring)
- Experience with temporary pacing (transvenous and epicardial wire pacing)
- Vasopressor infusion management experience (e.g., phenylephrine, norepinephrine)
- Inotrope infusion management experience (e.g., milrinone, dobutamine)
- Chest tube management experience
- Phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion skills
- Primary continuous bedside monitoring experience (ECG, SpO2, BP, RR)
- 2 years of critical care experience preferred (cardiac ICU experience not required)
- Charge RN and RN precepting experience preferred

- Serve as a bridge for patients between the Heart and Vascular Unit and the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit
- Opportunity for experienced progressive care, step-down, telemetry, cardiovascular, or critical care RNs to develop expertise in a higher-acuity cardiovascular setting
- Collaborative unit environment supporting clinical growth
- Any color scrubs permitted, following facility dress code policy
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
