Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of current L&D experience and CA RN licensure.

Details

• Acute care Labor & Delivery unit with 14 L&D beds, 2 OR suites, and triage performed within L&D
• Averages 3-4 births per day with approximately 1100 births annually
• Patient population includes laboring patients, inductions, cesareans, antepartum complications, fetal demises, and triage patients 20+ weeks gestation
• Patient ratios follow AWHONN guidelines
• RNs responsible for titrating drips including Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
• Uses Cerner EMR with Fetal Link for electronic fetal monitoring
• OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7
• 1 OB Tech supports the unit, with a usually free charge nurse
• Pulse ox monitoring used routinely; telemetry monitoring for magnesium patients with RNs reading strips
• Night shift schedule, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend requirement
• On-call requirement of 1 shift every 2 weeks
• No floating required; this unit is first to float if needed elsewhere

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand, no pending licenses accepted
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring
• Minimum 2 years of current Labor & Delivery experience required
• Acute care setting experience required
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients in a high-volume L&D unit
• One day of unit-specific orientation provided in addition to general orientation
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 2 minor holidays
• Scrubs are light blue and supplied by the facility each shift
• First-time travelers may be considered for this position
• Candidates may not have been directly employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity Health, within the past year; PRN employment through outside staffing firms will be considered
