Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool position requiring telemetry strip interpretation skills and CA licensure.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting in the MedSurg/Tele Float Pool unit
• Patient population includes common diagnoses such as ESRD, diabetes, COPD, and alcohol withdrawal
• Nurse aide support available at a 1:8 to 1:36 ratio depending on staffing, except when pulled for sitter duties
• Charge nurse present and typically does not carry a patient assignment
• Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR
• 12-hour day shifts (0645-1915 or 0645-1845 variations)
• Every other weekend required
• First to float among staff, including floating to telemetry units requiring strip interpretation
• Vent support includes BiPap and CPAP
• In-house hospitalist coverage with 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy support
• No IV team support

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) currently in hand, no pending licenses accepted
• BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, active and in hand
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Basic arrhythmia course certification preferred
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide medical-surgical and telemetry nursing care with float responsibilities across units
• Receive approximately 1 hour of floor-specific orientation plus a day of tele orientation, reflecting the highest level of care required
• Expected to rotate into holiday coverage as part of the permanent staff schedule
• Blue scrub color required for RNs
• Candidates will undergo a clinical prescreen with the clinical team before being presented to the unit manager
• Facility can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• Only orientation offered is in December with a fixed December 7th start date
