Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool RN for a 13-week night shift acute care assignment requiring active CA RN licensure and tele strip interpretation skills.

Details

• Acute care MedSurg/Tele Float Pool unit
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts (0645-1915/1845-0715)
• Every other weekend required
• First to float among staff, with floating required to telemetry units
• Nurse aide support available at 1:8 to 1:36 ratios depending on staffing
• Charge nurse typically does not take patients
• Common diagnoses include ESRD, DM, COPD, and ETOH
• Uses Cerner PowerChart EMR
• Bipap and CPAP ventilator support used on unit
• In-house hospitalist, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy support available
• No IV team on unit

Requirements

• Active CA RN license (Standard or Compact) required, pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Basic arrhythmia course certification preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• BSN not required
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Float pool RN providing care across medsurg and telemetry units as the highest level of care required
• Will rotate into permanent staff holiday schedule and is expected to work assigned holidays
• Floor-specific orientation consists of 1 hour unit orientation plus one day of telemetry-specific orientation
• Blue scrub color required for RNs
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
