Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro Stepdown unit position requiring stepdown experience and overnight shifts.
Details
- Neuro Stepdown unit within a 30-bed combined Acute Care/Stepdown department (22 Acute Care beds, 8 Stepdown beds)
- Patient ratios of 6:1 on Acute Care and 4:1 on Neuro Stepdown
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Weekend shifts required
- Floating required for experienced nurses after orientation
- Uses Meditech documentation system
- Equipment includes vital sign machines, high flow oxygen, chest tubes, suction, various drips, Vapotherm, Bipap, Trachs, and titrating cardiac drips
- Common procedures include lumbar puncture and chest tube placement
- Unit staffed with charge RN, techs, and unit secretary
Requirements
- Active RN license (TN or compact) required
- Current BLS certification required for Acute Care staff
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required for Neuro Stepdown staff
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior stepdown unit experience preferred
- Strong nursing skills, time management, and critical thinking abilities required
Additional Information
- Provide bedside shift report, personal connection with patients, and participate in daily huddles
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Great starting unit for nurses aiming to transition into ICU
- Dress code allows black, any shade of blue or grey, with any color scrubs permitted on Fridays
- Unit offers staff recognition through ICARE program, shout-out board, and employee of the month awards
