Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Orthopedics RN for a 13-week night shift assignment at a Level 1 trauma acute care facility requiring an active IL RN license.

Details

• Acute care Orthopedic unit (6 Ortho) within a Level 1 trauma facility
• 43-bed unit with all private rooms
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on 12-hr days and 1:5-6 on 12-hr nights
• PCT support available at a 1:7-8 ratio
• Treats a wide variety of medical surgical, postoperative orthopedic, and trauma fracture cases
• Uses Epic EMR
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Sat/Sun days, Fri/Sat nights)
• No call or standby requirements
• Travel RNs float first when needed, typically to other Med/Surg units
• Primary charge RN on each shift with 24/7 house supervisor coverage
• House-wide telemetry monitoring using Phillips monitors
• CPAP and heated high flow equipment used as needed, RNs troubleshoot only

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• 2 years of RN experience required, with 1-2 years of postop surgical and general med surg experience preferred
• Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Information

• Provide postoperative and general med surg nursing care to a diverse orthopedic and trauma patient population
• Two-day unit/department specific orientation provided
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation, guaranteed hours do not apply during this period
• Any color of scrubs permitted with adult professional appearance; tattoos and piercings must be covered
• Local candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles are eligible for a local rate
• No radius rule restricting eligibility
• Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours per 13-week assignment without penalty
• COVID vaccination not required
