Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced LDRP RN for a night shift position requiring labor training and fetal monitoring certification at a Critical Access Hospital.
Details
- LDRP unit providing care for laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns within a Critical Access Hospital
- Night shift hours from 18:45 to 07:00
- Fast-paced obstetrics department environment with interdisciplinary collaboration
- Uses EPIC EMR
- Floating to Med/Surg, CCU, or ER may be required to assist other departments
- On-call requirement up to 3 times per 13-week contract as scheduled by the OB manager
Requirements
- Active RN license (MT or Compact) required
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, NRP, and STABLE
- Must be labor-trained
- Fetal monitoring certification (Intermediate or above) required
Additional Information
- Provide care for laboring patients, postpartum mothers, and newborns
- Perform triage and non-stress tests (NSTs)
- Serve as 2nd nurse at deliveries and manage overflow patients
- Collaborate with physicians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to support patient-centered care
- Support patients experiencing complications during pregnancy, birth, or recovery
- Team-oriented setting with strong interdisciplinary collaboration

Pros
Hospital staff is very friendly to travel staff, unit staff can be much more guarded. The physicians, NP, Pharmacists and Clinic staff are very knowledgeable. Communication between departments can be broken with infusion. Top notch equipment and supplies. Clean environment. Dietary always willing to accommodate the needs of the patients. Lab staff always helpful, pleasant and inviting.
Cons
High probability that Friday 1/2 day shift will not be supported by on-site clinician. Non-chemo patients not supported. Often times PCP not reachable. Flow of patients can be unpredictable at times. Potential for patients remaining in department after operating hours with minimal support staff.
