Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position in a community hospital setting, requiring 2 years of MS/Tele experience and a CA RN license.

Details

• Surgical MS/Tele unit in a community hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Patient ratios of 1:4 and 1:5
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend coverage required
• Floating required based on hospital census
• Uses Omnicell medication system, EPIC documentation, and SBAR communication
• Manages diagnoses including bowel resection, carotid endarterectomy, skin grafts, cholecystectomy, reconstructive/plastic surgery, oral/facial surgery, general/vascular surgery, and gynecologic conditions
• Involves specialty procedures such as brachytherapy, HDR, clinical trials, and chemotherapy/neutropenic precautions
• Uses specialty beds and blood warmers

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Skills required include dysrhythmia interpretation, telemetry monitoring, Rapid Response/Code team use, colostomy care, feeding tube management, CBI, hemodialysis management, renal failure care, blood product administration, central line blood draws, peripheral and PICC line management, IV starts, heparin and insulin administration, PCA management, surgical drain and chest tube care, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions
• One professional reference required (within 2 years)
• Current Nursys report required (pulled within 2 weeks of consideration)

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care for surgical and gynecologic patients requiring medical-surgical and telemetry monitoring
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Previous permanent staff at the facility are not eligible for consideration
• RTO must be submitted in full at time of consideration, with no additions afterward
