Description

American Traveler is hiring an Emergency Dept RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring at least 2 years of recent ER experience and ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC certifications.

Details

• Non-trauma Emergency Department that is a Primary Stroke and STEMI Center
• General Emergency Department treating combined adult and pediatric patients, with occasional OB patients requiring mother/baby management until transfer
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
• Required to work 8 weekend shifts within the facility's 6-week scheduling period, in a combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments required as needed per unit
• Regular floating required between the ED Hold area, departments, units, and facilities as needed
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license in Kansas and Missouri, or compact license, required at time of consideration due to floating requirements
• Minimum of 2 years of recent ER experience, with a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in that year
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC
• Preferred certifications: CPI and MAB
• Required skills: management of dysrhythmias, management of multisystem organ dysfunction/failure, central line care/management, continuous IV sedation and IV vasopressor administration, CPAP/BiPAP management, care of ventilated patients, isolation precautions, and triage
• Preferred skills: STEMI and Stroke Certified Facility experience, interpretation of dysrhythmias, arterial line management, and interpretation of ABGs
• 2 professional references required, one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year
• SSN and finalized RTO/scheduling requests required at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Provide emergency nursing care across a combined adult/pediatric patient population, including trauma-related and cardiac cases
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Travel partners are not accepted
• Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• RTO limited to a maximum of 7 days, which must be finalized prior to consideration with no additional requests after offer or onsite
• Returning staff must have a 3-month break in service after 18 months of prior service, and former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before the start date, with additional EMR and safety training modules required prior to or during orientation
