Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 2 years of telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Cardiac PCU setting treating myocardial infarction, rule out MI, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart and vascular surgery patients, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Specialized care for structural heart support patients, including VAD and TAVR
• Night shift schedule, 4x12 hours (19:00-07:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:4, which may increase to 1:5 at midnight
• Floating required to similar units; travelers must be flexible
• Every other weekend work required
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active WA state or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required; surgical tele, open heart surgery, and vascular (groin/radial band management) experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• IV therapy skills required, including starting and maintaining IVs
• Experience with chest tube setup and care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions required
• Experience with blood/blood product administration required
• Experience with cardioversion/defibrillation and epicardial pacer management required
• Experience with telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management required
• Experience caring for LVAD and open-heart post-op patients (24-28 hours) required
• VAD and TAVR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac monitoring, and emergency response
• Provide care for patients with chest tubes, sternal precautions, and post cardiac surgery needs
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Former permanent employees of this health system must be separated for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Travelers may be required to float between sister facilities within the health system
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
• All time off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process, as requests after offer may not be accommodated
• Candidates residing within a 50-mile radius may be accepted at a lower bill rate
