Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg - Specialty Orthopedics position requiring a NJ or compact license and PAT/pre-op/post-op surgical care experience.

Details

• Specialty Orthopedics unit within a hospital setting
• Surgical patient population requiring pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education
• Includes Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) duties, evaluating orders for appropriateness based on procedure, age, and health status
• PM shift, 7p-7a, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Floating as needed, including to a sister hospital nearby
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC for charting

Requirements

• Active NJ or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
• EPIC charting experience preferred
• Surgical/perioperative patient care knowledge required, including conditions, procedures, and equipment for surgical patients

Additional Information

• Responsible for comprehensive patient assessments across the lifespan from pediatric to geriatric populations
• Maintains accurate and complete documentation of nursing care and patient progress
• Provides patient and family education regarding surgical procedures and recovery
• Follows National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and two-patient identifier verification
• Uses safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics
• Collaborates with the perioperative team to prioritize and direct patient care based on condition changes
• Local candidates accepted at a different pay rate
• Assignments limited to one calendar year from the initial start date, with a required break before returning
