Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring ICU experience, 1:3 patient ratios, and an active CA RN license.

Details

Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of an acute care, Magnet-designated hospital
Patient ratios of 1:3
Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:00 PM)
Every other weekend required
Floating required within skillset, including to sister facilities within the same state
No on-call responsibilities
Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

Active CA RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and LA City Fire Card
Minimum of 1 year of recent experience required
ICU experience required for consideration in this PCU role
Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and telemetry (on-unit and remote)
Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilator management, and tracheostomy care
Experience with IV therapy, blood product administration, and PICC line management
Knowledge of CVA and traumatic brain injury care
Experience with isolation precautions and PPE
Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

Provide care for medically complex patients requiring step-down level monitoring and interventions
Scrub color is unrestricted; lab and OR scrubs provided
Free parking available on-site
Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
RTO requests must be submitted upfront; minimal flexibility for additional time off once on contract
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates accepted within a 50-mile radius, at a lower bill rate
Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they are not within 50 miles of the facility
Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including dates and locations
