Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift Med Surg/Telemetry RN requiring an active IL RN license and prior IMCU, PCU, Stepdown, or Med Surg/Tele experience.

Details

• Med Surg/Telemetry unit with 48 beds
• Patient population includes ortho, bariatric, pneumonia, CHF, COPD, med/surg, and cardiac cases
• Average patient ratio of 1:5-7
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (1845 start), 48 hrs/week, with option for 36 hrs/week if preferred
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Float required across QC campuses (Rock Island, Moline, Bettendorf, Muscatine) as needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• Specialty equipment includes chest tubes, femstops, trachs, CBIs, drains, and central lines
• Manages heparin, insulin, and cardiac drips with titration

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of submission
• IA RN license also required, or proof of application for IA single-state or compact license at time of offer acceptance
• Minimum 15+ months of experience in IMCU, PCU, Stepdown, or Med Surg/Med Tele required
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA preferred; ARC or US Military accepted)
• Central line equipment experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Heparin, insulin, and cardiac drip experience required
• Respiratory patient experience highly preferred
• Charge RN or preceptor experience preferred
• Work history/resume with all gaps over 30 days explained required for consideration
• Skills checklist specific to IMCU, PCU, Stepdown, or Med Surg/Tele required for consideration
• One supervisory reference completed within the last 24 months required for consideration
• License verification less than 30 days old required for consideration
• Driver's license or proof of permanent residency required for consideration

Additional Information

• May be asked to step into Charge RN or Preceptor role
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) are ineligible to work travel assignments in another market within 12 months
• Local candidates accepted through December 31, 2026
