Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Direct Observation Med-Surg unit requiring strong drip titration skills and the ability to read telemetry strips.

Details

• Acute care Med-Surg unit (OBS 6N/6C) with 31 beds across stepdown and floor sections
• Patient population includes MedSurg, Cardiac, IDDM, COPD, Trauma, Ortho, ENT, Urology, and pain management cases
• Patient ratios of 1:5-6 on the floor
• High frequency of patient turning, averaging 10-12 turns per day
• Must be able to titrate drips in stepdown and manage Heparin gtts on the floor
• Unit has telemetry monitoring with dedicated tele techs; RNs must read and interpret strips
• Charge Nurse present on each shift with House Supervisor in-house 24/7
• Nurse aide support of 3-4 staff for 31 patients
• Respiratory Therapy in-house 24/7; no ventilators on this unit
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7:30a)
• Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
• Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• Must be able to titrate drips and manage Heparin gtts
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care in a busy telemetry/Med-Surg environment with frequent patient turning
• Travelers may be expected to work holidays as needed
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Previous perm employees must have a 2-year break before reapplying
• Previous travelers who completed a full year must take a 2-year break before returning
