Description

American Traveler is hiring a Float Pool RN requiring 3+ years of RN experience with telemetry background to care for varying acuity patients across ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg and PCU units.

Details

• Float position covering ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg and PCU units within a hospital setting
• Primarily covers a 20-bed medical ICU with 2:1 patient ratios, plus float coverage to multiple other units
• Cares for patients of varying acuity including cardiac arrest, sepsis, ventilation, stroke, surgical and dialysis cases
• Performs bedside procedures as part of patient care
• Night shift schedule: 3x12, 7p-7a
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• 0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted RN license (KY or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 3+ years of RN experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• CRRT/IABP experience required
• Recent specialty experience preferred; ICU or critical care experience a plus
• ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred
• Must be comfortable floating across multiple units and caring for patients of varying acuity
• Ability to frequently lift, push and pull over 35 lbs
• Frequent walking, repetitive motion and bending required
• Color discrimination needed for clinical cues
• Documents required for consideration: last 4 of SSN and month/day of date of birth

Additional Information

• Performs hourly patient rounding and bedside shift report
• Maintains ongoing communication with physicians and other departments as patient needs change
• Prioritizes care and manages time effectively across multiple units
• Adheres to infection-control protocols and patient privacy/confidentiality requirements
• Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, sharps and airborne infectious diseases
• Implements professional nursing practice using the nursing process, critical thinking, and evidence-based care
• Coordinates admission, transfer, and discharge activities along with patient and family education
• Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates accepted at a lower pay rate
