Description

American Traveler is hiring a Float Pool RN to rotate across ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg and PCU, requiring at least 1 year of RN experience with Telemetry experience and an active KY or compact RN license.

Details

• Float Pool position rotating between ICU, Telemetry, Med/Surg and PCU units
• Cares for patients of varying acuity levels across multiple units
• 3x12 day shift schedule, 7a-7p
• 36 hours per week
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• Floating across multiple units is a core job requirement

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted KY or compact RN license
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience with Telemetry experience required
• Recent specialty experience preferred, ICU or critical care experience a plus
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• BLS (AHA) required within 90 days of hire
• ACLS (AHA) required within 6 months of hire
• PALS required within 6 months of hire
• NIHSS required within 6 months of hire
• Nonviolent crisis prevention training completed before end of orientation and maintained annually
• Annual influenza vaccination required
• Candidates already holding ACLS, PALS and NIHSS strongly preferred
• Last 4 digits of SSN and month/day of date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments and develops individualized care plans based on patient needs, culture, age and developmental level
• Conducts hourly patient rounding and bedside shift reporting
• Prioritizes and adjusts care as patient needs change throughout the shift
• Maintains ongoing communication with physicians and other departments
• Delegates and oversees patient care tasks performed by other team members
• Facilitates admission, transfer and discharge activities, including discharge teaching and coordination with case management
• Adheres to infection-control protocols and patient privacy and confidentiality requirements
• Requires frequent lifting, pushing and pulling over 35 lbs, frequent walking, repetitive motion and bending, and color discrimination for clinical cues
• Regular exposure to blood, body fluids, sharps and airborne infectious diseases
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility, with local candidates accepted at a lower rate
