Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring 3+ years of cardiac ICU experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in a high-acuity Cardiothoracic ICU within a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting
• Patient ratios average 1:2 on both day and night shifts
• Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Will float to other Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) ICUs as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 3 years of Cardiac ICU experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS; CCRN preferred
• Proficiency with Swan-Ganz (pulmonary artery line) monitoring required
• Experience with ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and chest tube assistance
• Skilled in cardiac drip titration, vasoactive drip management, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Experience caring for post cardiac surgery, CABG, TAVR, and valve repair/replacement patients
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Large trauma center experience required for consideration
• Epic charting experience required
• One professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only

Additional Information

• Provide high-acuity cardiac ICU nursing care including post-cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization/intervention patients
• Manage complex cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological patient needs
• First-time travelers accepted with Cardiothoracic ICU and/or critical care experience
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the hospital to be considered for the travel rate
• Returning staff must have been gone from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
