Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown Cardiac RN with strong PCU background to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED, requiring 2 years of recent experience and NH or compact RN license.

Details

• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Traveler will be contracted to the ED unit, specifically caring for inpatient/CICU level holds
• Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia
• Overflow coverage for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients as needed
• Cares for patients s/p cardiac cath with stent (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
• Manages and titrates drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
• Uses BiPap, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Philips monitoring system
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Floating expected under a helping hands/team nursing approach, including patient sitting assignments that match clinical skill set

Requirements

• Active NH or compact RN license required
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA or American Red Cross only); CPI preferred
• EKG test required upon arrival
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with a strong PCU background within the last year required
• ED experience preferred but not required
• First-time travelers accepted only with EPIC experience and 2 years of experience
• Experience managing and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips required
• Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and non-invasive airway management required
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac preferred
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management experience required
• Experience with rapid response/code team protocols required
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
• Full 7-year work history with all employment gaps explained required

Additional Information

• Care for stepdown cardiac and telemetry patients, including those pre/post cardiac catheterization and sheath removal
• No RTO available for Thanksgiving
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Former employees of the facility are not eligible for consideration
• Travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for the local rate
• Drug screening must be completed within 14 days of the start date
• First-time travelers accepted only with EPIC experience and 2 years of experience
