Description

American Traveler is hiring a Medical Surgical RN for a night shift position at a teaching hospital requiring at least 1 year of experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a teaching hospital
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Diagnoses include CHF, COPD, SBO, sepsis, stroke, diabetes, orthopedic conditions, chest pain, and wounds
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-07:00), with 3x12 schedules also accepted
• Every other weekend required for 4x12 schedules
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• BLS certification required; ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line management, PICC line care, and blood product administration
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• Ability to interpret cardiac dysrhythmias and manage cardiac emergencies
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a diverse Med/Surg population including cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and orthopedic cases
• Navy blue scrubs required

• Clinicians cannot work more than 1 year as a traveler without taking a 6-month break before returning
