Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring an active IL RN license and 2 years of L&D experience.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery / LDRP and Nursery unit of a hospital setting
• Patient population includes labor and delivery, antepartum, and GYN patients with diagnoses such as gestational hypertension, diabetes, and multiple births
• Unit performs circumcisions, hearing screens, newborn screens, general admissions, C-sections, and labor inductions
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
• Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours), 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• No on-call requirements
• Required to work one Friday, one Saturday, and one Sunday shift every 4-week schedule, not necessarily consecutive
• Unit staffs 1 charge nurse, 6-7 nurses, and 1 scrub nurse per shift, with variation based on census
• Facility averages 140 deliveries per month with an expected increase into the 160s
• In-house physician coverage part-time with on-call coverage for remaining hours

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• STABLE certification required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• AWHONN Advanced, Intermediate, or Beginner certification preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products required
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs and using infusion pumps/drips required
• Level 2 Special Care Nursery experience preferred
• Experience circulating, scrubbing, and triaging preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum stages
• Responsibilities include neonatal care in the delivery room, newborn assessments, and assisting with vaginal deliveries and C-sections
• Support postpartum care including fundus/lochia/perineum care, breastfeeding support, and wound assessment
• Manage pain interventions including epidural anesthesia, IV conscious sedation, and PCA use
• Monitor fetal heart rate patterns and operate external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
• Administer medications including Magnesium Sulfate and Pitocin
• Candidates living within 70 miles of the facility are considered local and will not be accepted for this position
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler and must take a 6-month break before returning
• Travel experience is not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
