Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring Med/Surg Tele experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit caring for acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients
• Patient diagnoses include acute/chronic respiratory illness, post-op general and GYN surgery, post-op total knee and hip replacements, GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema, diabetes, renal failure, and drug overdose
• Also manages patients with CIWA scores below 7, suicidal ideation, arrhythmias, uncontrolled seizures, and stable COVID cases
• Administers IV medication drips including Heparin and TNA
• Patient ratio of 1:5/6
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Every other weekend rotation and holiday coverage as needed
• Float required to any Cone Health campus as needed

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele or Telemetry experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, and peripheral line care
• Cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and rapid response/code team experience required
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) and port access/management skills preferred
• Current driver's license required to verify address

Additional Information

• Provide bedside care for a diverse population of medical-surgical, telemetry, and orthopedic patients, including dysrhythmia monitoring and emergency response
• Must pass a compliance EKG exam (pass/fail, two attempts allowed) regardless of specialty
• Non-billable orientation modules required, averaging 2-4 hours and varying by unit
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• RTO must be submitted at the time of application; no post-submission RTO accepted
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; no local candidates accepted
