Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring BLS, NIHSS certification, and a WV or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit (6N Overflow) with 30 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:6, up to 1:7
• 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with weekends as scheduled
• Common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, R/O, chole, appendicitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, and AKI
• Telemetry monitoring available, watched remotely by monitor techs
• Intermittent BIPAP used; no ventilators on unit
• RN responsible for titrating heparin drips based on aPTT results
• One charge RN assigned per shift, with PCT support on the unit
• Approximately half of total weekends required to be scheduled
• Floating required as needed based on census, with external travelers floated first
• No standby or on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• BSN not required
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• Any licensing history issues must be disclosed at time of consideration

Additional Information

• Transitioning to Qgenda for scheduling
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for travel rate
• Travelers who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers are limited to a maximum of one cumulative year working within WVU facilities before requiring a 2-year break
• Candidates interview directly with the unit manager
• Cancellation policy allows up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract
