Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg position requiring CA licensure, Epic experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

• Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Epic EMR used, experience required

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in-hand at time of application (EMSA not accepted)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required in-hand
• Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of specialty experience within the past 2 years required for specialized units
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience required and must be noted in work history
• Two supervisor references required at time of application
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral/PICC line care
• Experience with gastrointestinal care including bariatric surgery, bowel obstruction, and colostomy/ileostomy management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with genitourinary/renal care including CBI, peritoneal dialysis, and hemodialysis management
• Experience with neurological and psychiatric conditions including CVA and substance withdrawal
• Experience administering heparin, insulin, cardiac drips (no titration), and PCA
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry, and rapid response/code team activation
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry, Orthopedics (including ortho trauma and total joint replacement), Cardiovascular (post angiogram), and Plastics (surgical drains) settings

Additional Information

• Community hospital experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care across a range of medical surgical conditions and procedures
• Must be willing to accept manager interview if requested
• Locals accepted at the same pay rate
• Previously employed staff must be separated for a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days of RTO preferred per 13-week contract
• RTO must be confirmed with documentation at the time of application
