Description

American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience and Epic charting proficiency.

Details

• Magnet-designated, Level 4 Trauma teaching hospital setting
• Labor and Delivery unit with 7 labor beds, 3 triage, 2 PACU, and 16 mother-baby beds
• Cares for adult women of childbearing age
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
• Weekend shifts required unless otherwise posted
• Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skilled in fetal monitoring, including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement/calibration
• Experience assisting with vaginal deliveries, high-risk deliveries, and circulating for C-sections
• Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, HELLP syndrome, and postpartum hemorrhage
• Experience with labor-inducing and related medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and Terbutaline
• Experience with newborn care including APGAR scoring, cord care, and neonatal resuscitation
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
• Support high-risk and routine deliveries, including VBAC and multiple gestation cases
• Assist with pain management interventions including epidurals and PCA pumps
• Perform newborn assessments and support breastfeeding and lactation needs
• First-time travelers considered only if they have 3+ years of L&D experience
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate as travelers
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, with required holiday coverage
• RTO cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have a minimum 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any scrub color accepted
