Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for a community hospital respiratory department, requiring CRT/RRT certification and EPIC charting experience.

Details

• Community hospital respiratory therapy department managing emphysema, asthma, and other respiratory disease processes
• Performs non-invasive ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, ABG draws and analysis, and chest physiotherapy
• Invasive ventilation patients are stabilized in the ED and transferred to a sister hospital
• Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Primarily 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a) with one 8-hour shift on Fridays to complete an 80-hour pay period
• On-call required Friday nights from 1 AM to 7 AM
• Floating required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Uses Servo I and LTV 1200 ventilators
• Phillips V60 BiPAP, BiPAP Vision, and Teleflex High Flow Nasal Cannula experience preferred

Requirements

• Current RT state license required if applicable
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CRT
• NRP and RRT certifications preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Skilled in adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Experience with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with airway management including extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy care, and sputum specimen collection
• Experience with aerosol and nebulizer therapy including MDI, hand-held, T-piece, and trach collar setups
• Experience administering respiratory medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Isuprel, Lidocaine, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, Spiriva, Terbutaline Sulfate, Tobramycin, and Xopenex
• Proficient in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• First-time travelers will be considered

Additional Information

• Provides respiratory care to adult patients with a range of acute and chronic respiratory conditions
• Collaborates with the care team to stabilize and manage patients before transfer for higher-level ventilation care when needed
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
