Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT/CRT) with 1+ years of experience and community hospital background for a day shift position managing non-invasive ventilation and respiratory care.

Details

• Small community hospital respiratory therapy department
• Manages emphysema, asthma, and other respiratory disease processes
• Performs non-invasive ventilation, high flow oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, ABG draws and analysis, and chest physiotherapy
• Invasive ventilation patients are stabilized in the ER and transferred to a sister hospital
• Uses Servo I and LTV 1200 ventilators
• Phillips V60 BiPAP, BiPAP Vision, and Teleflex High Flow Nasal Cannula experience preferred
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00-19:00, plus one 8-hour Friday shift to complete an 80-hour pay period
• On-call required Friday nights from 1 a.m.-7 a.m.
• Floating required
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Current ACLS, BLS, and CRT certifications required; NRP and RRT preferred
• State license required if applicable
• Minimum 1 year of experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Proficient in airway management including extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, pulmonary hygiene, sputum collection, and tracheostomy care/management
• Experienced with ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, high pressure alarm troubleshooting, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experienced with medication delivery systems including aerosol setups, MDIs, and nebulizers
• Knowledgeable in administration of respiratory medications such as Albuterol, Atrovent, Combivent, Flovent, Pulmicort, and others
• Able to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)

Additional Information

• Responsible for comprehensive respiratory care across adult critical care and emergency department settings
• Collaborates with ER team to stabilize patients requiring invasive ventilation prior to transfer
• Will consider candidates local to the area
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
• First-time travelers are not accepted
• Returning staff must wait 6 months system-wide before reapplying
• Candidates with more than 10 days of requested RTO will not be considered
