Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position requiring TN or compact license and at least 1 year of recent unit experience with Epic EMR.

Details

• Med/Surg Telemetry unit caring for patients with higher oxygen demands, dialysis needs, afib, and post heart cath procedures
• Step-down from ICU level care, no ventilators or pressor support
• Manages drips including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotalol initiation (no titration required)
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
• Every other weekend coverage required, subject to change based on need
• Floating to other like units may be required based on census needs
• Patient ratio of 1:6

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a Med/Surg Telemetry or similar unit
• Minimum 1 year of experience with Epic EMR required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required: BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care, IV therapy, central and peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code team participation required
• Experience with pacemaker management, post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath care preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and respiratory support
• Administer and manage cardiac drips per protocol
• Participate in rapid response and code team activations as needed
• First-time travelers will be considered based on experience level
• Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance requirements
• Pre-assignment testing and compliance modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility in the health system to be eligible, with reduced eligibility terms for those 90-99.9 miles away
• Night shift travelers applying to this specialty must reside at least 50 miles from the contracted campus
• Travelers cannot extend beyond a third consecutive 13-week contract and must take a minimum six-month separation if not converting to employee status
