Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Neuro unit requiring NM or compact RN license, BLS, NIHSS, and 1 year of recent experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical Neuro unit with 32 beds
• 3x12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM–7:00 PM) with 36 or 48 hour options
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:6
• Rapid response team activation as part of unit duties
• Weekend commitment of 6 shifts within a 6-week period
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to like units within scope as needed, with brief orientation provided
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required prior to start
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required; CPI preferred
• 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Experience with 1:6 patient ratios
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, high flow nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy care and feeding tube management
• Experience managing CVA (stroke) patients preferred
• Medication administration experience with Heparin, Insulin, and PCA
• Wound care and wound vac experience
• Experience with pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care
• Surgical drain management experience

Additional Information

• First-time travelers considered if candidate has at least 24 months of nursing experience
• Previous staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, as locals are not accepted
• Facility is part of a larger health system that includes The Heart Hospital of New Mexico
