Description

American Traveler is hiring a Stepdown RN for a float pool position requiring CA licensure, travel experience, and 2+ years of stepdown/ICU specialty experience.

Details

• Step down unit within a multi-hospital health system float pool
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM
• Requires working 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week cycle and at least one holiday, including the holiday weekend
• May float to like units or lower acuity units across 5 hospitals in the system
• Float assignments at or below skillset, occasionally to another campus/location
• Uses Epic EMR system-wide

Requirements

• Active CA RN license in hand at time of consideration (Temp or Perm, no EMSA)
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• 2+ years of concurrent stepdown or ICU experience, with experience within the last year
• 1.5 years of continuous experience in specialty without breaks (unless floating or meeting equivalent ratio experience)
• Travel nursing experience required, including 1 year total and 6+ months of continuous travel experience leading up to consideration
• No gaps in travel experience for the last 6 months, except minimal pre-approved vacations or brief onboarding/relocation gaps
• Epic or combined Epic/Cerner experience within the last 6 months
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• 1 supervisory-level professional reference required
• Valid copies of all required certifications must be provided, with no pending or expired certifications accepted

Additional Information

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care across a range of patient populations including neurological, respiratory, cardiovascular, renal, orthopedic, and post-surgical cases
• Skills may include cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, wound care, insulin titration, and management of various drips and lines depending on unit needs
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Returning staff and travelers may reapply after a 1-year separation
• Maximum 7 days RTO allowed, with no additional requests after consideration
• Not open to local candidates within a 100-mile radius, except LVNs/LPNs
• Candidates on assignment in San Diego for 9+ months or longer are considered local and ineligible
• International travelers must have 1 year of recent or current U.S. work experience
• Interview availability including specific days, times, and time zone is required
