Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring 2 years of experience and a TN or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 36/36 schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:6-7
• Floating required
• No call requirements
• Epic charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active TN or compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required; AHA ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Tele nursing experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draws preferred
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac) and high flow nasal cannula experience preferred
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care and management
• Knowledge of CVA care and management of heparin and insulin medications
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with rapid response/code teams preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
• Experience with renal failure care and surgical drain management preferred
• Experience with total joint replacement care preferred
• Must complete Relias EKG testing within 72 hours of signing
• Must complete facial hair trimming/removal to meet CDC fit testing guidelines

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care to Med/Surg Tele patients including cardiac monitoring and respiratory support
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care duties
• General orientation begins on Sundays with online CBL modules, averaging 4-5 non-billable hours
• Drug test must be completed within 12-14 calendar days prior to start, with availability for a second test if needed
• Must reside 100+ miles from the hospital's service area; no local candidates accepted
• First-time travelers are not considered for this position
