Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Pediatrics RN for a night shift position requiring 2+ years of pediatric experience and CA RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a Pediatric MedSurg unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
• Every other weekend required (12 shifts total), including Sat & Sun dayshifts and Fri & Sat nightshifts
• Floating required to General Peds Unit, Peds Hem/Oncology, NICU, and PICU based on census
• No on-call requirements
• Uses EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I and II experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, administration of blood and blood products, central line care and blood draws, peripheral line management, starting and maintaining IVs, TPN/lipids administration, medication and emergency medication administration, anti-seizure medication management, and pediatric dosage calculations
• Experience with neurologic conditions including neuromuscular disease and seizure disorders required
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, oral/nasal suctioning, oxygen delivery systems, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with body fluid handling post chemotherapy required
• NG tube insertion/management required
• Experience managing fractures required
• Infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE skills required
• Wound assessment and care skills required
• Experience with indwelling urinary catheter insertion and management and peritoneal dialysis/CAPD required
• Renal failure management experience required
• Insulin administration skills required
• One professional reference required within the past 2 years

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients across general peds, hem/oncology, NICU, and PICU as needed based on hospital census
• Pre-approved time off must be submitted for consideration and included at time of application; no additional RTO can be added afterward
• Previous permanent staff at the facility are not eligible for consideration
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
