Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring KS or compact RN licensure and at least 2 years of acute care experience.

Details

• 32-bed Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 with nurse aides at 1:12
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
• Weekend requirement of 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
• Holiday coverage required
• Call or standby requirements determined by nurse manager
• May float to ICU (low acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, or MS-Tele units, and potentially within Zone 4 for extreme need
• Could be utilized as a CNA if needed
• Uses Epic EMR
• 24/7 telemetry tech support available
• Charge nurse available and may take patient assignments
• Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, COPD, pneumonia, GI bleeds, renal failure, sepsis, stroke, and post-surgical care
• RT equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, and heated high flow
• RNs are not required to titrate drips

Requirements

• Active KS or Compact RN license required, no pending licenses accepted
• BLS and ACLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• BSN not required
• Strong patient communication skills required
• Driver's license copy required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a variety of medical-surgical diagnoses including cardiac, respiratory, GI, renal, and post-surgical cases
• Unit-specific orientation date and location assigned during orientation week
• Clinicians must be in-state for orientation week even if initial modules are remote
• Hiring process includes a clinical interview with facility team before an offer is extended
• Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to qualify for travel positions
• Travelers are expected to float within their hired zone and should arrange housing accordingly
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Returning candidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year, though PRN employment through outside firms is acceptable
