Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a 32-bed Stepdown unit requiring strong MedSurg Stepdown experience and drip titration skills.

Details

• Acute care Stepdown unit with 32 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:3 for stepdown or 1:4 for combo assignments (2 stepdown/2 floor or 3 stepdown/1 floor patients)
• Post-surgical thoracic and medicine patient population
• RNs titrate drips per MD-ordered parameters, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix (no vasopressors)
• Telemetry monitoring with RNs interpreting and charting patient rhythm Q4hr or more frequently during titration
• Centralized monitor at nurses station plus in-room monitors, with centralized telemetry placing EKG strips into charts
• No ventilators on unit, but BiPAP and tracheostomy care provided
• Unit staffed with 1 Charge Nurse, 3 House Supervisors in-house, and 3-4 CNAs per shift
• 12-hour night shifts, 48 hours per week
• Weekend requirement of 3 shifts in a 4-week schedule (Sat, Sun, Sat)
• Holiday coverage required as scheduled
• No call or standby requirements
• Floating is very rare
• EPIC EMR used

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Strong MedSurg Stepdown experience required
• Must be able to titrate drips with specific parameters and read telemetry strips
• Unexpired driver's license copy required for consideration
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered through approval process)

Additional Information

• 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation provided
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to qualify for travel positads
• Previous perm employees must wait 2 years before reapplying as travelers
• Previous travelers at this facility for a full year must take a 2-year break before returning
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1-year assignment within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
• Candidates interview directly with the unit manager
• Cancellation policy allows 2 shifts per 13-week contract
