Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown Neuro unit role requiring telemetry and NIHSS certification along with dysrhythmia management proficiency.

Details

• Stepdown Neuro unit in a Magnet, teaching, Level 1 Trauma hospital with 500 staffed beds
• Patient population includes neurosurgery, neurology, and epilepsy cases such as TBI, craniotomy, craniectomy, aneurysm clipping/coiling, spinal cord injury, stroke, and seizure
• Acute care staffing ratios of 1:4-5
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend required with scheduling flexibility
• Floating required within scope, with travelers floated first
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers considered only with strong neuro experience
• Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required, verified by competency test
• Skills required include IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and tracheostomy care
• Level 1 trauma experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Provide care for complex neurological and neurosurgical patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Must wear blue scrubs
• Up to 1 of 3 major holidays may be requested off, but must work 2 assigned holidays
• RTO limited to no more than 6 days and cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• Prior facility staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a travelers
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
