Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position requiring 2 years of CVPICU or PICU experience in a pediatric hospital setting.

Details

• Work in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) of a children's hospital
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Scheduled to work every other weekend, subject to change based on RTO and unit needs
• Floating required to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and Medical-Surgical units as needed
• Care for patients with congenital heart disease, post cardiac surgery, and post cardiac catheterization needs
• Manage ventilated patients, tracheostomy care, and acute airway maintenance
• Experience with ECMO and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD) preferred
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and manage dysrhythmias
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) experience preferred
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines
• Administer continuous sedation and IV vasopressors
• Makeup shift within the same pay period required for any call out or absence

Requirements

• Active OH or Compact RN license required, must be in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of CVPICU or PICU experience required
• Minimum 2 years of pediatric hospital experience required
• 2 supervisory references required at time of consideration, with at least one manager/supervisor titled reference (charge references not accepted)
• Skilled in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, High Flow Nasal Cannula, and ventilator management
• Skilled in interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
• Experience with chest tube management and ETT/NT suctioning
• Pediatric dosage calculation skills required
• Isolation precautions and PPE competency required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to pediatric cardiovascular ICU patients
• Floating to other units is a requirement and a point of emphasis for this facility
• No call/no-show policy strictly enforced with progressive disciplinary action
• Candidates must not have worked in a permanent role for this health system within the last 2 years
• No local candidates permitted within a 60-mile radius of the facility
• Agency switch requests for extensions must occur at least 3 weeks before current contract end date
• Late arrivals are counted after 3 minutes past shift start
