Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele/Ortho unit position requiring a CO or compact RN license and 1 year of relevant experience.

Details

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele/Ortho unit with a 24 staffed-bed capacity
• Patient population includes ortho trauma, total joint replacement, CVA, spinal cord injury, and surgical plastics cases
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Required to work every other weekend, subject to change per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• May be required to float to sister facilities within the North region, including a location approximately 14.8 miles away

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or compact) currently in hand
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA); NIHSS preferred
• Experience with any EMR/charting system required
• Skills in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry (unit and remote), and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience managing neurological and psychiatric conditions such as CVA, pre/post neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, and substance withdrawal preferred
• Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin, and PCA

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for a med/surg, telemetry, and orthopedic patient population, including ortho trauma and total joint replacement cases
• Completion of all facility-specific modules required within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with specific blackout periods where time off is not permitted
• Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate for those residing within 75 miles
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply as long as experience requirements are met
• Previous UCHealth employees must disclose prior employment history for eligibility review
• Travelers who completed a full year on assignment with UCHealth OR may not be rebooked for at least one year
