Description
American Traveler seeks an Outpatient Speech-Language Pathologist with BLS certification and at least 1 year of experience for a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma acute care hospital.
Details
- Outpatient adult SLP setting within an acute care hospital
- 5x8 day shift schedule, 8:00am to 5:30pm
- 13-week assignment with no weekend or on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used for charting
- Treats conditions including CVA, degenerative diseases, dysarthria, dysphagia, fluency disorders, hearing impairments, laryngectomy, TBI, and voice disorders
- Utilizes adaptive equipment, augmentative and alternative communication devices, and communication boards
- Conducts Modified Barium Swallow Studies and dysphagia management using compensatory strategies
- Handles Medicare A and B billing, evaluations, reassessments, discharge planning, and plans of care
Requirements
- Valid state SLP license required if applicable, compact license must be in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an SLP required (Clinical Fellowship Year not accepted)
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with augmentative communication, alternative communication devices, and oral motor skills preferred
- Experience conducting Modified Barium Swallow Studies preferred
- Experience with fluency disorders and laryngectomy patients preferred

- Candidates must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
- All requested time off must be submitted upfront at time of consideration, as post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated
- Local candidates are not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
- Former permanent staff may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside the 50-mile radius
- Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable setting
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Level II Trauma center recognized as a USNWR Best Hospital in Alaska
