Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a Des Moines hospital, requiring 24 months of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Tele experience and charge experience with an active IA or compact RN license.

Details

• Med/Surg 3E unit within a regional hospital setting
• Patient population includes general med/surg care with overflow post-op surgical hip/knee patients and occasional overflow psych patients
• Patient ratios of 4-5:1 with a 24-bed unit size
• Heparin drips administered on the unit, with remote telemetry monitoring
• Day shift schedule consisting of 4x12 hour shifts, 48 hrs/week (36 hrs/week can be accommodated)
• Typical schedule is Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon or 3 weekend shifts plus a 4th shift during the week at RN discretion
• No on-call requirements
• Required to float across all UnityPoint campuses including Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active IA or compact/multistate RN license required
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum of 24 months of current Med/Surg, Medical Surgical, or Med/Surg Tele experience required
• Charge nurse experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience caring for psych patients preferred
• Preceptor experience is a plus
• Valid driver's license required for consideration
• Supervisory performance evaluation or professional reference within the past 24 months preferred

Additional Information

• Provide med/surg and telemetry nursing care including post-op surgical and overflow psych patients as needed
• Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) unless the unit is closed
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue, solid

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Extension beyond the initial 13-week contract is preferred by the department
• No blocked shifts permitted
