Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a High Acuity Unit position requiring critical care skills in managing ventilated and sedated patients with titratable drips.

Details

• Work in the High Acuity Unit (ICU) of an acute care hospital
• 8-bed critical care unit with 1:2-3 nurse to patient ratios
• Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac cases
• Requires skills in PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, and tracheostomy patient care
• Manage sedated, ventilated patients including titrating vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips
• Common titratable drips include Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem
• Nurses provide primary patient care in the ICU with no nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit
• House Supervisor available 24/7; Hospitalist/Intensivist on dayshift only, with tele-health MD available after hours
• Respiratory Therapy in-house 24/7; RNs required to work with vent, CPAP, BiPap, and High Flow equipment
• All 8 ICU beds are hard-wired Phillips telemetry monitors centrally monitored by a dedicated telemetry tech
• Uses EPIC EMR
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend and to fill scheduling gaps
• Holiday rotation required and to fill scheduling gaps
• ICU RNs may float to the Medical-Surgical unit
• No call or standby requirement at this time

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA)
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
• Nursys verification required for licensure

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a complex ICU patient population including sedated and ventilated patients
• Unit-specific orientation includes classroom training per facility policy and 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
• Scrubs required for dress code; only facility-approved t-shirts permitted in any color
• COVID vaccination is not required for this position
