Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring prior travel nursing experience and at least 2 years of cardiac telemetry background.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit serving as overflow for IMCU, 32 beds with 1:5-6 patient ratios
• Adult to geriatric patient population including CHF, chest pain, arrhythmias (stable A-Fib, SVT, bradycardia), renal and pulmonary (COPD, pulmonary edema, PE, DVT) cases
• Also cares for post cardiac cath, TR band, DKA patients, occasional vascular, ortho, and CVA overflow, and surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains)
• Manages continuous IV drips including cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• Uses Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Weekend rotation typically every other weekend, with travelers filling gaps after permanent staff scheduling
• Floating required within facility and scope of practice as needed
• On-call is rare with a 2-hour response time; travelers do not manage Precedex

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience managing continuous IV medications including cardiac drips, vasoactive drips, and insulin drips required
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge and experience with arrhythmia management and cardioversion required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care preferred
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and nasal cannula preferred
• Experience with pre/post cardiac cath care and TR band management preferred
• Copies of required certifications needed for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care including arrhythmia management, cardiac drip administration, and monitoring of post cardiac cath patients
• Respond to rapid response and code team activations as needed
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, must be finalized at time of submission with no requests allowed during orientation week or after offer
• Expected to work assigned holidays based on number falling within the contract period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Previous permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who previously cancelled or were not approved to return must complete one assignment outside the health system before reapplying
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
