Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift hospital assignment requiring GA or Compact RN licensure and at least 1 year of Med/Surg experience.

Details

• Medical Surgical unit in a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Works every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• Floating within facility and scope of practice as needed
• Epic charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active GA or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care, and wound vac
• Respiratory care skills including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills, including peripheral line care, PICC line management, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience managing surgical drains preferred
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills, including use of Rapid Response/Code teams

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, which must be finalized at time of consideration
• No RTO can be requested during orientation week
• Holiday coverage is required; if one or two major holidays fall during the assignment, no holiday RTO can be requested, and if three major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
• Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
• Shift and schedule as listed are firm with no alternate shift or schedule requests permitted
• Former permanent, PRN, or internal staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers who previously cancelled or were not approved to return must complete one successful assignment outside the health system before reapplying
