Description
We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local healthcare provider in Redding, CA where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current California state license in good standing with the State License Board. RRT required; CRT will not be accepted.
- 2-5 years of respiratory therapy experience, including critical care experience.
- Must have previous travel clinician experience.
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP. COVID-19 vaccination required.
- Experience with Respiratory Therapy Driven Protocols; facility strictly protocol driven.
- Experience using Cerner electronic medical record.
- Experience with mechanical ventilators including Hamilton, G5, C1, MR1, Galileo systems preferred.
- One year experience as an RRT (meets requirement when combined with listed critical care experience above).
- Preferred: Neonatal specialty (NPS) if seeking NICU assignments. Note: NICU coverage requires additional credentials; facility will not accept CRT for CA positions.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Unit: Respiratory Therapy covering ICU and all med-surg/telemetry areas. 267-bed hospital.
- Shift: 12-hour days. Schedules include every other weekend and holiday coverage expected.
- Typical shift pattern: 3x12, evening-of-weekend (EOW) scheduling; shifts noted as 06:00–18:30 in facility notes.
- Orientation: 12 hours total with 2 days floor-specific orientation.
- Floating: First to float. Floats to all areas except NICU.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Respiratory coverage: RT presence 24/7. Charge RT on site 24/7.
- Common duties: breathing treatments, ABGs, EKGs, NIV, HFNC therapy, IPV, PEP/PAP therapy, and protocol-driven interventions.

Standard Job Description
As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory care for patients with breathing disorders. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, follow facility protocols, operate and manage ventilators and respiratory equipment, and document care in Cerner.
