Description
We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Grand Island, NE where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current state respiratory therapist license in good standing with the Nebraska licensing board.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred; one year recent clinical experience as an RRT required.
- Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA).
- NRP preferred.
- Experience with ventilator management, nebulizer administration, and responding to rapid response and code blue events.
- Competent in patient assessment and providing treatment recommendations across the lifespan (neonate through geriatric).
- Experience using MEDITECH charting system preferred.
- Ability to work independently in acute care, perioperative, and emergency department settings.
- Driver’s license required at time of submittal to confirm compliance with a 50-mile radius rule.
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity.
- Adherence to facility grooming policies: artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift name: Nights.
- Shift pattern: 12-hour nights.
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week.
- Orientation: 12 hours.
- Assignment length: 13 weeks. First 13 weeks will be on days; if extending, schedule will transition to nights.
- Unit: Respiratory Care Department. Unit responsibilities include general respiratory care, response to pre/post surgical areas, emergency department coverage, rapid response, and code blue participation.
- Cancellation policy: Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment.
- Radius requirement: 50 miles.
