Description

We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local healthcare provider where you’ll be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
  • Current Respiratory Therapist (RRT) state license in good standing with the State License Board for Ohio.
  • Minimum one year clinical experience as an RRT in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Experience operating and managing mechanical ventilators, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation modalities.
  • Experience with arterial blood gas sampling and interpretation.
  • Proficiency with oximetry and capnography monitoring.
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Experience with tracheostomy care, endotracheal tube insertion/removal, and suctioning techniques preferred.
  • Ability to perform 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition preferred.

Standard Job Description:

Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patients and recommends treatment plans. Explains purpose and procedures of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and provides necessary education upon discharge.

  • Conduct physician-prescribed respiratory treatments using ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, ventilation and oxygenation.
  • Perform chest physiotherapy and various suctioning methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal).
  • Perform oximetry and capnography monitoring and routine review of chest x-rays per policy.
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs and basic arrhythmia recognition.
  • Perform pulmonary function studies (e.g., NIF, VC) and assist with procedures such as bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomy assistance, and chest tube support.
  • Provide tracheostomy care, including emergent and non-emergent insertion/removal where applicable.
  • Perform arterial puncture and report results for assessment of ventilation efficiency.
  • Operate, maintain, set up and self-test ventilatory equipment and monitor mechanical ventilation across equipment types.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and repair coordination for respiratory equipment.
  • Document treatments, patient responses, and maintain accurate respiratory therapy charges and records.
  • Communicate with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency and provide thorough hand-off communication during rounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
