Description
Join our team as an Echo Ultrasound Tech / Cardiac Sonographer / Echo Technologist and use your expertise to operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, compassionately prepare patients for echocardiogram procedures, and produce diagnostic images of the heart for interpretation by healthcare teams.
Minimum Requirements:
- ARDMS (Registered Medical Sonographer) or equivalent credential such as RDCS, RCS (Cardiac) or CCI certification preferred. All required certifications must be current upon hire.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum 1 year experience in echocardiography required. Preference given to candidates who are graduates of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Cardiovascular Technology program.
- Experience performing adult transthoracic echocardiograms. Experience with pediatric or transesophageal echocardiography and contrast (Ultrasound Enhancing Agents) or saline bubble studies preferred.
- Ability to perform measurements and calculations according to laboratory protocol and to send studies to PACS.
- Experience with infection control procedures, equipment cleaning and basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families and multidisciplinary teams and to document findings clearly.
- Must be available to take call and to work rotating weekends and holidays as required by the department.
- Must demonstrate ability to function in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, and maintain patient safety and dignity.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift pattern: 3 x 12-hour shifts, various shifts (days and/or nights as scheduled).
- Must be available to take call and to work rotating weekends and holidays.
- May be required to float to other facilities within the client network as needed.

Standard Job Description
Perform all cardiac imaging including adult, pediatric, transesophageal (including structural heart) and stress echocardiograms as required by the department. Perform measurements and calculations according to laboratory protocol. Provide preliminary oral summary of findings to interpreting physician when requested. Administer Ultrasound Enhancing Agents and perform saline bubble studies when credentialed and authorized. Ensure patient safety and comfort, verify orders and patient identity, and follow pre- and post-procedural verification and Time Out processes. Maintain equipment, follow infection control policies, and send studies to PACS promptly. Participate in orientation and training of department staff and complete required documentation and mandatory education. Maintain productivity comparable to peers and adhere to regulatory and hospital standards.
