Description
We’re hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Tulsa, OK where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current Oklahoma state license in good standing as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
- One year experience as an RRT in an acute care or hospital setting.
- BLS certification required.
- Experience operating and troubleshooting invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilators and common ventilatory equipment.
- Ability to perform arterial puncture, oximetry and capnography monitoring, suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasal, tracheal), and tracheostomy care per hospital policy.
- Competence with 12-lead ECG acquisition and basic arrhythmia recognition.
- Familiarity with pulmonary function testing (NIF, VC) and assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube management, and percutaneous trach care.
- Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines. (ACLS preferred.)
- Documentation skills for respiratory care records and electronic charting.
- Preferred: prior experience in moderate complexity laboratory processes and equipment preventive maintenance.

Standard Job Description:
Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patient and recommends a treatment plan. Explains purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients and provides necessary education upon discharge. Conducts physician-prescribed treatments, operates ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation. Performs chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry and capnography monitoring, routine review of chest x-rays for evaluation needs, 12-lead EKG acquisition, pulmonary function studies, and assists with respiratory procedures including bronchoscopy and chest tube management. Performs tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, mechanical ventilation setup and monitoring, equipment maintenance coordination, documentation, and shift handoff communication. Performs other duties as assigned.
