Description
We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Omaha, NE where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.
Minimum Requirements:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
- Current state license in good standing with the State License Board (Nebraska).
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required or equivalent experience as noted by client.
- BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications required.
- Recent Level 1 or Level 2 respiratory experience required.
- Experience with EPIC charting system.
- Experience across the lifespan: neonates through geriatrics, including inpatient coverage in multiple areas/floors.
- Skills required: bedside bronchoscopy assistance, bedside spirometry, EKG interpretation, and ventilator management.
- Familiarity with equipment brands used: Drager, Servo I, Carefusion vents; Vision, V60, V30, Respironics S/T bipap; Airvo2 high-flow systems.
- Ability to float to different areas throughout the hospital in an RT capacity.
- Driver’s license required at submittal to verify radius rule compliance.
- Orientation: three 12-hour shifts (12 total orientation hours noted).
- Preferred: NRP and PALS certifications.
- Preferred: prior experience in Level 1 or Level 2 trauma/critical care environments.
Assignment Details
- Facility type: Hospital.
- Shift name: Days.
- Typical shift pattern: 12-hour day shifts, team scheduling (example schedule 7a–7p noted by client).
- Weekend requirement: day shifts every third weekend.
- Holiday requirement: rotate with permanent staff.
- Patient population: neonates through geriatrics; inpatient coverage across all areas/floors.
- Supervision: Lead therapist present on shift; travelers will not be the only RT in-house.
- Orientation: 3 shifts of unit/department-specific orientation (12-hour shifts).
- Floating: Candidate will float to different areas throughout the hospital as needed.
- Radius and affiliation restriction: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility and may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity).

Additional Job Information
- Assignment duration: 13-week assignment with 36 guaranteed hours per week noted by client.
- Orientation hours: 12 hours.
- Cancellation policy: hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment.
- RTO requirement: RTO needed upfront (7 days or less per 13-week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved after submission.
- Clinical environment: hospitalist/intensivist coverage 24/7.
- Department strengths: varied levels of patient care daily, collaborative teamwork among RTs, providers, and nursing.
- Workplace policies: artificial nails prohibited in patient care departments; refusal to comply may lead to termination of contract.
