We’re hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a hospital in St. Louis, MO where you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. The Respiratory Therapist provides intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Duties include operating ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, performing suctioning, tracheostomy care, arterial puncture, pulmonary function studies, 12-lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement. The role requires documentation of treatments, participation in shift-to-shift communication, and participation in equipment maintenance and quality processes.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
• Current state license in good standing with the State License Board.
• One year experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• BLS certification.
• Experience with mechanical ventilators, both invasive and non-invasive modalities.
• Experience performing arterial puncture and interpreting oximetry and capnography.
• Experience with tracheostomy care, suctioning methods, and chest physiotherapy.

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Experience in an acute care hospital setting or with moderate complexity labs.
• Experience performing pulmonary function testing and 12-lead EKG acquisition.

Assignment Details

• Shift pattern: Night, 3x12.
• Location: Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
• Candidates may be required to transport patients within the facility as part of duties.
