Minimum Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited program

• AART Certification in Radiation Therapy

• Valid Radiation Therapy state license, if required by South Carolina

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on a treatment machine treating patients

• Experience operating advanced linear accelerators or similar treatment units

• Demonstrated ability to position patients accurately and follow physician prescriptions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient comprehensive cancer center setting

• Experience with treatment software verification and patient simulation

Assignment Details

• Shift Hours: 0700-1800 (split shift between start of 0700 and end of 1800)
• Work Days: Monday through Friday
• No on-call required
• Outpatient only

Impacting Patient Care

The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering therapeutic doses of ionizing radiation in accordance with prescriptions and the direction of radiation oncologists. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining treatment equipment, recording and verifying treatment software, simulating patients, positioning patients accurately, educating and reassuring patients and families, monitoring for adverse reactions, and maintaining accurate patient records. The role supports a culture of caring, compassion, and respect and contributes to training of radiation therapy students. Candidates must follow radiation safety principles and adhere to standard work practices.
